Easter Emergency - A change of Post!

I was going to do a nice Easter post to day and then I saw a post on Rabbit Ramblings today GA Rabbit Hoarder Update and this one a few days ago Bunny Hoarding in GA Emergency Needs
These Bunnies are just a few of the many that were rescued by the GHRS theres are more photos on their GHRS facebook page they were rescued from a hoarder in poor condition. Please visit Rabbit Ramblings on the 2 post links for the full story or visit GHRS if you can help in any way as they are over stretched already and they haven't even had in in flux of unwanted bunnies from Easter yet.The GHRS are in urgent need of Fosters for all these bunnies if anybody in the local area can help foster the buns please contact them or any donations would be appreciated.
Cold thin hoarded rabbits run to GHRS Volunteers after realising they  offered food-and the buns didn't know about the love, attention and health care they were about to receive!

Please Help Us....Thank You!

  1. I can't judge this woman. I have four rabbits now and I don't think I could turn away any rabbit. And they do poop a lot. I can see myself hoarding that many rabbits. I just can't judge her at all. It's not like she was breeding them for sale, which to me is inexcusable and cold blooded. She genuinely loves those rabbits, but expresses it poorly. I am sure she suffers from depression and anxiety. Most hoarders do. She must also feel that she is the only person who can love these bunnies and that they are safer with her than anywhere else. No, this is not true, but in her mind, with her mental illness, she is convinced of it.
I can see myself like this in twenty years. I truly can. So I cannot judge this woman. I do hope they get treatment for any sick or injured bunnies and find them homes soon.

    1. there is nothing wrong with having lots of bunnies or other pets so long as you take care of them which she wasn't as for you the comparison would be totally wrong as you would take good care of them and probably better than you would take care of your self plus you make sure they are neutered, but you're right she does need help or she will do it again, its just very sad all round,xx Rachel

    2. I agree. There is a fine line between enthusiast and hoarder. If I could I would save them all too, but I recognize that I only have limited resources and I could end up putting those rabbits in just a bad a situation as they came from.

I also like that you mention the mental illness factor, brandi. A lot of times hoarders of animals and objects have just fallen through the cracks of society; mental illness gets such a bad rap and these people just need help. Unfortunately, all the bunnies in the world will not cure depression. But maybe having a few and taking really good care of them would help.
