Its been a long night!

Its been a long night ......
Speedy developed diarrhea yesterday evening.I went to sleep for a couple of hour and set the alarm for 1am by that time Speedy had to have a bath,he bottom ,tummy and feet were plastered and you know something he knew it,I don't think even Speedy could stand the filth....so he had a warm bath with a little baby shampoo in the water and he let me do it he stood in the water while I cleaned him off and then rinsed with clean warm water. He even let me dry him off with towels too ....he was happy to be clean.
Anyway I found a recipe for a rehydration drink for Rabbits with diarrhea
2 teaspoons of sugar
1/4 teaspoon of baking soda(Bicarb in England)
3/16 of a teaspoon of salt (pinch)
mixed in clean warmish water

Has to be said this is amazing stuff Speedy lapped it up and the diarrhea has stopped he still not eating much but at least the diarrhea has stopped. We will let you know how the vet goes later
but Speedy is still bright and cheeky so again Don't panic as I am sure we can get to the bottom of this....no pun intended!

Anyone know what Savannah is up to?

  5. OH DEAR.....dearest Rachel, you must have been beside yourself.....but you are such a wonderful caregiver to Speedy, and he seemed to have been saying, "Mummy, please give me a bath!" Oh, I am going to pray on my way to work for this bundle of happiness who we all love. This stomach trouble however, does happen to rabbits, doesn't it? Do you think it is related to that lump? How is that going?

    Thinking of you all.....

  7. Awww.... Poor Speedy. Tummy ailments aren't fun, at all. In fact, they're very icky.

I'm glad you found somethin' to make him feel a bit better. Somethin' he actually liked taking. And I'm very sure Speedy appreciated the bath. When stuff like that happens, washin' ourselves clean can seem a little overwhelming. You know?

  11. What a good boy Speedy is to let you give him a BATH! He was certainly better behaved during bathtime than I would have been. I don't imagine bunnies like a bath anymore than kitties do. If there is any bathing to be done, I'll do it myself - thank you!
